J. H. Luckey
Humboldt, TN - Funeral services for J. H. Luckey, age 89, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church, with Brother Bill Espy and Brother Frank Kemper officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery, with Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Luckey died April 8, 2013 at Humboldt General Hospital.
He was born in Humboldt, TN, the son of the late C. E. Luckey and Nina Keenan Luckey. Mr. Luckey was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII on the USS Yokes. He served for 19 years on the Gibson County Commission with several of those years served as Chairman of the Gibson County Ambulance Authority. Mr. Luckey served on the boards of Union Planters Bank and Regions Bank. He served on the board of Union University and was an avid fan of Union University Basketball. He was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church and served his church as a Deacon. Mr. Luckey an excellent farmer, businessman and cattleman, and was a loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Dorothy Sanders Luckey in 2003; a sister, Nina Jane Cooper and a brother, Eugene Luckey.
He leaves his children, Jack Luckey and wife Debi of Jackson, TN, Sandra Lowery of Jackson, TN, Carole Grissom and husband Ralph of Humboldt, TN, Susan Robinson and husband Jim of Wylie, TX, Tom Luckey of Humboldt, TN and Beth Hand and husband Mike of Nesbit, MS; a sister, Nelle Sparks of Martin, TN and a brother, Rege Luckey of Humboldt, TN; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church, and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday, also at the church.
