Martha Lynn Caldwell Fisher

A Southern lady of grace and charm has gone home to be with her Lord, whom she loved and served. Martha Lynn Caldwell Fisher, age 93, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Martha was born October 5, 1920 in Kenton, Tennessee, the only child of the late Lovic P. and Maude Caldwell. She attended finishing school in Virginia, George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, and graduated from Louisiana State University.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Raleigh M. Fisher, who died in 2000; and by their daughter, Yvonne Fisher Frazier, who died in 2003.

She is survived by grandson, Pierce Frazier and great-grandson, Triston Frazier of Jackson, TN; grandson, Stephan Frazier, his wife Stephanie, and great-granddaughter, Springer of Pittsburg, PA; son-in-law, Dr. Larry Frazier of Jackson; many cousins; and a special close friend, Marie Williams of Jackson.

For a number of years, Martha practiced alongside her husband and father in the family public accounting firm of Caldwell and Fisher. When Martha and Raleigh retired in 1978, they spent many happy days traveling the world, making friends in every country they visited. Many of their foreign friends later visited in the Fisher home in Jackson. Martha was keenly interested in genealogy, and spent many hours eagerly researching the history of the Caldwell family. She was a lifelong and devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Jackson.

Graveside services will be held at Jackson's historic Hollywood Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 with Dr. Paul Clayton and Dr. Cecil Kirk officiating. The funeral services are under the direction of George Smith and Sons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Methodist Church of Jackson, Tennessee.

George Smith and Sons Funeral Home, (731) 427-5555.
