Nancy Nichols Brooke
Nancy Nichols Brooke, age 74, passed away after a long illness Friday, November 15, 2013, at her home in Jackson, TN. Visitation will be Monday, November 18 at 9:30 am at First United Methodist Church, Jackson, TN, followed by the funeral at 11 am. Burial will be at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Brooke was born in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from the Sunset Hill School and received a Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi.
She was a homemaker who lovingly cared for her family. She was active at her children's school, volunteering as room mother, library aid, PTA member, and Scout Leader. Mrs. Brooke was involved in her community as a C.A.R.E. tutor and a board member of the Library Foundation. She loved her church and the Bible study group and through the years severed numerous times as a committee member and Sunday School teacher. Her interests included gardening, cooking, traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, and playing bridge. She was an avid reader who was passionate about supporting the local library.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Larry Joe Brooke, 2 daughters; Betsy Dement and her husband, Alan, and Laura Camp and her husband, David; 5 grandchildren: Chris Dement (Suzanne), Melanie Fite (Matt), Alex Camp, Nicholas Camp, and Suzanna Camp, and 4 great-grandchildren: Gage and Darcy Dement and Natalie and Cate Fite. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Nichols, Jr., and her brother, A.P. Nichols III.
