Robert A. Rogina Obituary
Robert A. Rogina Age 72, entered eternal life on Friday, February 28, 2014, with his loving family by his side. Robert is survived by his loving children: Michael (Susan), Donald (Christine), Daniel (Kelly), Christopher (Renae) and Kevin (girlfriend, Cathleen); cherished grandchildren: Benjamin, Spencer, and Jack; Ryan, Emily and Ethan; Ava, Evan and Brady; one brother, George (Carol); two sisters: Rita Perona and Nancy (Ray) Clodi; brother-in-law, Donald (Linda) Jeffrey; and beloved granddog, Lizzy; also survived by eleven nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved Joenie (nee Jeffrey); and his parents, George and Jennie (nee Bozich). Robert was born in Joliet, IL. He attended St. Joseph Grade School, Joliet Catholic High School, Joliet Junior College and the University of Illinois- Urbana/Champaign with a Bachelor 's of Science degree in Civil Engineering, having been the recipient of the C. C. Wiley Traveling Award for excellence in Transportation Engineering. He spent 50 years as a Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor working for IDOT (5 years), Beling Consultants (20 years), and his own firm, Rogina Engineers and Surveyors (25 years). Bob worked tirelessly for the Joliet Community serving Joliet Rotary Club, Life Director for the Will - Grundy Counties Home Builders Association, past Chairman and Board of Directors of the Three Rivers Manufacturers Association, Campaign Chairperson of the United Way of Will County, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Joliet/Will County Center of Economic Development, Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Will County CED, Will County Community Foundation, University of St. Francis Board, Chairman of the Cornerstone Services Board, Vice Chairman of the Will County Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority, and Chairman of the Silver Cross Hospital Foundation. His devotion to the community has been recognized with the United Way of Will County Roger Osman Award for Distinguished Volunteer Service, the United Way Frank J. Turk, Sr. Outstanding Campaign Achievement Award, the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce Rabbi Morris M. Hershman Community Service Award, the Silver Cross Hospital Sangmeister Medal of Excellence, the Lewis University De La Salle Award, and the Will County CED Frank Turk Business and Community Achievement Award. Special Thanks to Pierre and Nancy of St. Joe 's Hospital ICU for their care and compassion to Robert and our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert 's name to Silver Cross Foundation, 1900 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox, IL, 60451, the Rialto Square Theatre Foundation, 15 East Van Buren St., Joliet, IL 60432, or Cornerstone Services, Joyce Road, Joliet, IL 60436. A Celebration of Robert 's life will begin on Thursday, March 6, 2014, with prayers in the funeral home chapel beginning at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
