Donald V. Tadiello, 75, of Enfield, loving husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Strahan) Tadiello, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Hartford Hospital, with his wife and three children by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Don was born Aug. 6, 1937, in Providence, R.I., and was a graduate of Drury High School in North Adams, Mass. Don proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired from the Air National Guard after 20 years of service. Don retired from the Hartford Police Department as a sergeant with the mounted patrol unit with his beloved steed "Metro." Don was proud to have headed the prestigious mounted patrol in Hartford. After retiring, Don enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife all over the country and family vacations at the Cape.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, of 54 years, he is also survived by three children, Cheryl Crowley and her husband, Michael, Donald E. Tadiello and friend, Gail Nogas, and Donna Tadiello and husband, Ricky Sarju; four grandchildren, Derek and Sarah Crowley and Kendall and Rohan Sarju; and a brother, David V. Tadiello.

Don's family would like to thank Dr. Menon and his nurse, Jen, from the infusion center in Enfield, and Dr. Shah for the years of wonderful care Don received.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, with a funeral procession forming at 11 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
