Eugene R. Carman, 83, of Willington, husband of the late Sylvia J. (Anderson) Carman, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Blair Manor, Enfield.

He was born in Freeport, N.Y., son of the late Eugene B. and Myra (Johnson) Carman. Gene served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from the University of Connecticut as a research lab assistant III. He was a member of the Storrs Congregational Church, Mansfield Lions Club, Alpha Phi Omega, and Boy Scout Troop No. 82, where he was a former leader. Gene enjoyed woodworking, having built most of his house and all of the interior fixtures. He was also an avid camper, enjoyed square dancing, and was a regular at the Track Nine Diner in Willington.
Gene is survived by his three sons, Clifford E. Carman, and his wife, Ann, Kenneth A. Carman, and Keith R. Carman, and his wife, Lee; four grandchildren, Samuel Carman, and his wife, Allyson, Audrey, Michael, and Kaitlyn Carman; and a great-granddaughter, Adella Carman.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a funeral service to take place at 6 p.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home Inc., 51 E. Main St., Stafford Springs.
Burial will be held privately.
