John F. Potyra, 67, of Stuart, Florida, died April 26, 2014, at his home.

Born in Manchester, he had been a resident of Stuart for two years, coming from South Windsor, where he had previously lived for 66 years. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Allied Printing in Manchester, for more than 40 years.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Jean P. Potyra, of Stuart; two daughters, Dorothy A. Potyra, of Palm City, Florida, and Leslie (Glenn) Panayotoplus, of South Windsor; brother, James (Rosemary) Potyra, of Stuart; sisters-in-law, Janet Potyra, Mary (Michael) Tonino, Donna (John) Johnson, and Linda Hull; brothers-in-law, Leonard (Eilene), David (Cathy), and James (Shiela) Pattison; two grandsons, Nick and Dalton; nephews, Brian and Steven Potyra; and many more nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Potyra.

A service to celebrate his life will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Road, South Windsor.
