Kendall "Ken" F. Owens Sr., 86, of Enfield, beloved husband of Patricia (Stoughton) Owens for 57 years, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at The Village at Buckland Court, with his loving family at his side.

He was the son of the late Frederick and Florence Owens, born on Dec. 4, 1927, in Hornell, N.Y., where he was raised. Ken was a graduate of Purdue University, and proudly served his country in the United States Army with the military police during the Korean War. A resident of Enfield since 1958, he was a longtime member of Hazardville United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees and boards. Ken was a math teacher at Enfield High School and Fermi High School for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed vacationing with his family at Smith Pond in Upstate New York. He was an avid fisherman and boater and was very proud of holding the CT state record for blackfish.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by Patricia and their children, Kendall F. Owens Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Newington, Reed Owens and his wife, Laura, of Broad Brook, Susan Bisaillon and her husband, Red, of East Hartford, and David Owens, of West Springfield; and their cherished grandchildren, Peter, Jennifer, Michelle, Bryan, Joseph, Kevin, Christopher, and Allison; and his extended family. Ken was predeceased by his sisters, Dawne and Jeanne.
Family and friends may gather for a funeral service celebrating Ken's life at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Hazardville United Methodist Church, 330 Hazard Avenue, Enfield. Burial will be at the family's convenience in Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland, Maine.
Ken's family will receive relatives and friends at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, on Sunday, Dec. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m.
