Leslie Edward Fritzen, 79, a longtime resident of Manchester, passed away peacefully at home with hospice help on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013. He was the much loved husband of Bette Mae (Smith) Fritzen for 29 years.

Born July 3, 1933, in Syracuse, N.Y., Ed graduated from Smith Technical School in 1951 and from General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich., in 1956. He worked from 1956-1961 for Brown, Lite, Chapman, a division of General Motors in Syracuse. Ed then moved to East Hartford where he worked 32 years as an engineer for Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies. After retiring, Ed did consulting work at Allied Resources from 1995-2002 and at Belcan from 2003-2009.
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his two daughters, Karen White, and her husband, Drue White, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lisa Fritzen of St. Augustine, Fla. He also leaves two granddaughters, Rebecca White and Rachel White. In addition he is survived by former wife, Barbara Burton of St. Augustine, Fla. Other survivors include friends, John and Carol Powell, who were like family.
Ed enjoyed fishing, canoeing, reading, traveling, and working on his computer. He especially loved animals, family, friends, and Carol's gourmet cooking.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 E. Center St., Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
Calling hours will be Monday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
