Lester G. Black, 81, of Manchester, beloved husband of Dawn (Lenentine) Black, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014.

Lester was born in Bridgewater, Maine, on Oct. 17, 1932, son of the late Linwood and Velma (Gallup) Black. He was raised in Bridgewater and has resided in Manchester since 1959. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Lester worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 35 years retiring as general foreman. He was a member of the Manchester Sportsman Club, Campmates, Manchester Square Dance Club, an avid bowler, enjoyed carpentry, and interior and exterior painting and was a handyman of all sorts.

In addition to his wife, Dawn, he is survived by his daughter, Diane Clancy, and her husband, Regan, and their children, Katelyn, Matthew, and his wife, Amanda, Kevin, and his wife, Kaitlyn, and Michael; his son, David L. Black, and his wife, Linda, and their children, Kelly and Kristina; his daughter, Debbie Plank, and her husband, Gary, and their children, Joe, Justin, and Jessica. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Black; and a brother, Carroll Black.

The family would like to thank Masonicare Hospice and a special thank you to Laurie Holmes.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will follow with military honors at Hillstown Road Veteran Cemetery, Manchester.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
