Richard B. Saich, 84, of Vernon, died at home on Friday, Sept. 27.

Born in Hartford on June 22, 1929, to Richard and Helen (Schmidt) Saich, Dick graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1948. He served in the Air Force Air Rescue Squadron 1948-54. Dick was a University of Connecticut graduate and worked at Pratt & Whitney as an engineer for 34 years. He was active with the First Congregational Church of Vernon, serving as trustee emeritus, and also spent many enjoyable days volunteering at the New England Air Museum.
Dick was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis (Hultgren) Saich, in 1991. He leaves his wife, Jane (Kuhnly) Saich; daughters, Pamela Pepin (Jim) and Lisa Dumais (Mark); grandchildren, Corey Dumais, Elizabeth (Pepin) Meade (and husband, Christopher), Erica Pepin (and her intended, Humberto Hernandez), and Nicole Pepin. He also leaves stepchildren, Marcia (Randy) Andrews, and their daughters, Rachel and Valerie, Scott (Jennifer) Kuhnly, and their children, Morgan, Annelise, Greta, Ava and Cullen, and Brian (Leigh) Kuhnly, and their daughter, Lauren.

A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church of Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m.
