Born on Sept. 22, 1948, in Springfield, he was the son of the late Robert and Arlene (Sorenson) Chadderton, and a lifetime resident of the Enfield community. Bobby graduated from Enfield High School in 1966, and continued his education graduating from Northampton Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country during the Vietnam War. Bobby began his career at the Enfield Police Department in December 1968, retired in June 2009, and continued on as a consultant until 2011, when he was instrumental in the development of the communication department for the department. He was a parishioner at St. Bernard Church and a member of the Crestview Country Club of Agawam, Mass. Bobby was an avid golfer and a longtime New York Yankees fan. He loved to cruise the world and really enjoyed taking these vacations with his family and friends. Bobby had just returned from a cruise in Europe that his wife, Karen, will remember forever.
His family was the most important thing in his life, and he adored his wife, Karen; his loving children, Bernard L. Pierce, and his wife, Sherry, of Lyon, France, Kristen Chadderton Post, and her husband, Dan, of Enfield; and his cherished grandchildren, Isabella, Lillian, Kamryn, Madison, Joshua, and Timothy. Bobby loved having his family surround him during weekly family dinners, holidays, special occasions, and vacations at the beach. He will be sorely missed by family and the countless friends who loved him.
Bobby's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Family and friends will gather at Leete-Stevens on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at 9 a.m. for a funeral procession to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery.
