Theodore "Ted" Herbert Cooper, 79, of Vernon, beloved husband of Rosalind (Cohen) Cooper, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

He was born on March 28, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Leon and Fredricka (Turkel) Cooper. He grew up in Brooklyn and later went on to proudly serve his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from the service he was married to the love of his life, Rosalind, and together they raised a family. He worked for the Hartford Insurance Co. for over 32 years, before retiring in 2003. Ted had a great sense of humor, which he was known for, even in his sickest days. He enjoyed Broadway shows, sports, classical music, and Frank Sinatra. He was a kind, caring, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be sadly missed.

Along with his wife, Rosalind, of over 55 years, he leaves his daughter, Beth Halligan, and her husband, Mike, of South Windsor; and his grandchildren, Jonathan, Sara, and Hannah Halligan. He was predeceased by his daughter, Suzette; and his brother, Melvin Cooper.

The family would like to thank Carrie, Tammy, Sue, and the RCAs at the Village at Buckland Court for making Ted's last years as fulfilling as possible, especially Beth, Priscilla, Maria Lee, Victoria, Toby, Diane, "Z," Latoya, Leslie, and Una. We would also like to thank the staff at Woodlake of Tolland for making Ted's last days as comfortable as possible.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Temple Beth Hillel, 20 Baker Lane, South Windsor. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Gates of Zion Cemetery, Saddle River Road, Airmont, New York. His family will observe Shiva at their home on Monday, July 21, and Tuesday, July 22, in the afternoon from 2 to 5.
