William R. Hahn Jr., 62, of Ellington/Stafford Springs, loving husband of Linda (Mitchell) Hahn, died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013.

He was born in Hartford, son of the late William R. Sr. and Emma (Kugat) Hahn. Bill was a 1969 graduate of Rockville High School and attended Manchester Community College. His career in the banking industry spanned 36 years, serving his last 21 years in banking as branch manager for Stafford Savings Bank. He loved cars, music, water skiing, swimming, and motorcycling. His greatest pleasure was sled dog racing, often using his team of Siberian huskies to raise money for various organizations and charities. He gave many educational dog sled demonstrations in schools throughout the area. He loved going to Alaska in the winter, and long remembered the day he got to ride the drag sled out of Anchorage with his friend, Pete Johnson, who was racing in the 1992 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

His greatest passion was volunteering for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, establishing the annual Walk-a-Thon in 1995 as a fundraiser to benefit the camp. Bill was well-known in the Stafford community. He was a member of the Stafford Rotary Club, served as a past president, and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He also was a former member of the Stafford Citizens' Scholarship Committee, served as treasurer of the Stafford Gazebo Fund at Heritage Park, and was a committee member of the Stafford Wall of Honor. He also was a former member of Corvettes Limited of Connecticut, No Rules Corvette Club, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and the Connecticut Valley Siberian Husky Club. For his achievements, Bill was named Volunteer of the Year by Team and Trail magazine and Citizen of the Year by the Stafford Grange, and he received the Lifetime Giving Award, given by Paul Newman and the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp to individuals who have raised over $100,000 for the camp. In 2011 Bill was inducted into Rockville High School's Wall of Honor.

Besides his wife of 40 years, Linda, Bill is survived by his sister, Sandra Ferguson and her husband, Ronald, of Nelson, N.H.; his brother, Farrell Robert Hahn of Epsom, N.H.; his brother, Craig Hahn and his wife, Lisa, of Farmington; his four huskies, Einstein, Joshua, Santa Baby, and Willie; and several other extended family members.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, with a procession forming by 9 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home Inc., 51 E. Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, St. Bernard's Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville.

Calling hours are on Friday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, P.O. Box 156, Ashford, CT 06278.
