RACINE Mr. Charles Carr Jr., 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Charles was born in Kankakee, Illinois to the late Charles Sr. and Bessie Mae (nee: Sanford) Carr on April 9, 1930. Charles served two times in the United States Army. He first enlisted in Cincinnati, Ohio in August of 1950. There he learned to be a chef. He was transferred in 1952 to work as a chef at the Great Lakes Navel Base until his honorable discharge in September of 1954. Charles reenlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on October of 1954. He earned both the Occupational Metal and National Defense Service Metal and was honorably discharged in July of 1957. After his military service, Charles worked as a security guard for the Racine Private Police. Charles was a believer in God and the Lord, Jesus Christ. He attended the Second Baptist Church of Kenosha and was a Bible reader. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on cars, basketball and baseball (Chicago Cubs) and especially cooking for family and friends. Good Time Charlie was a happy person who treated everyone good, entertained the children and called all the girls Baby. Charles was very fond the music of both Chuck Barry and Barry White Charles will be missed by his sister, Bessie Pollard; nieces, Clara (Charles) Fisher, Mary Taylor, Bessie (Joseph) Young and Patricia (Barry) Rickey; nephews, Anthony Carr and Cleveland Carr; many other nieces, nephews and other relatives; his former wife, Frances Carr; four step-children, Michalea (Wardell) Morgan, Sue (Bruce) Cosey, Melanie Molgaard and Todd Molgaard; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by twin infant daughters; one son; two brothers, John Henry and Willie; and three sisters, Carrie Mae, Elizabeth and Virginia. Charles has been cremated and a memorial service of committal with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street (Hwy C), Union Grove on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 10:00 am with Minister Wardell Morgan officiating.
