RACINE - Dwayne Ratkus, age 60, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at his residence. The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church near Castle Rock Lake near Mauston, Wisconsin with Father George Nelson Graham celebrating. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Mauston. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Dwayne was born September 10, 1953 in Mauston, Wisconsin the son of Raymond and Theresa (Zilinski) Pekala. He attended Franklin Grade School in Dalton, Lincoln High School in Thornridge and graduated in 1971. He went to Purdue University and earned a degree in computer science and utilized this education as a computer programmer at J.I. Case in Racine where he worked for 26 years. He most recently was employed at the Journal Times Newspaper in Racine for the past 10 years. Dwayne was a big sports fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers, enjoyed listening to music, and loved spending time with his five nephews. Dwayne is survived by his mother, Theresa Ratkus of Mauston; a brother, Charles, Jr. of Mauston; sisters, Maxine (Doug) Etchason of Tinley Park, Illinois, Teri (Eric) Emerson of Chicago, Illinois and Vicki (Al) Solis of Rockland, Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Pekala; stepfather, Charles Ratkus and sister in law, Phyllis Ratkus.
