RACINE — Ernest George "Ernie" Boye, 88, passed away at his residence on December 4, 2013. Ernie was born in Racine on October 9, 1925, the son of the late George and Dora (née: Nielson) Boye. He proudly served and received the Purple Heart during his time spent defending his country during World War II. On July 26, 1946 in Racine, Ernie was united in marriage to the former Virginia "Ginny" Rasmussen. He was employed in sales most of his career with various retailors stemming from Westview Nursing Home, Roeschen's Pharmacy, Kortendick's True Value and Superior Coffee. Ernie took great pride in his bird farm known by many bird enthusiasts as the "Ding Bat Bird Farm". He enjoyed shopping for family and loved ones especially during the Christmas season. Ernie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ginny, children, Terri (Jerry) Delcore, Scott (Brenda) Boye all of Racine; grandchildren, Clayton Delcore, Bonnie (Chris) Christensen, Weston Delcore and Brad Boye. He is further survived by great grandchildren, Annika, Caden, Jaxon, Leah, Dillon and Nathan, one brother George (Jackie) Boye of Nevada along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Ernie was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Sutter and Polly Heiskala. Funeral services for Ernie will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark Doidge officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at West Lawn Memorial Park following services. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Ernie in a special way may direct memorials to the family for an organization to be established at a later date.
