Frances Marie Cogburn Frances Marie Cogburn departed this life on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Memorial Service: 3pm Saturday, September 21 in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Frances Marie Cogburn was born on July 31, 1942, to the loving parents of Eugene Francis Bendix and MaryAnn Bendix. Her father was an officer in the United States Air Force. He served in World War II and in Korea. While serving in World War II the plane that Eugene flew was named after his daughter "The France Marie". While, stationed in Amarillo, Texas with her parents is when Frances met the love of her life Bennie Clarence Cogburn. Bennie and his family are from Eastland, Texas. The Eastland, Cisco, Ranger and Abilene area is where many Cogburn's settled after coming to America. The Cogburn family is originally from the Cockburn family of Scotland. Bennie's family belonged to the Cockburn family House of Langton and many of his ancestors were Baron's in this region of Scotland. The Cogburn's still has confirmed family in Scotland. Bennie and Frances married on October 10, 1962. France was a very loving, devoted and faithful military wife. Her husband was career Navy serving two tours of duty to the Republic of Vietnam. She lost her husband to cancer on July 8, 1979, just eight days before his 40th birthday. Frances remained a loving, devoted and faithful wife even after Bennie's passing. There was no one who could take his place in her heart. Bennie was truly the love of her life. Survivors: Son, Albert Ray Cogburn of Saginaw, Texas; daughter, Angela Marie Cogburn Speer of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren Leonard Ray Speer, Alexis Marie Speer and Joeanne Louise Speer; brother Charles John Bendix of Wisconsin; and sister MaryAnn Bendix of Arizona.
