RACINE - Mr. Lyle G. Gustin, 91, peacefully passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital with his loving family at his side on Friday, October 11, 2013. Lyle was born in Dunn Center, ND to the late Ray Gustin and Ann (née: Reschke) on April 8, 1922. On September 7, 1946, at Racine Gospel Tabernacle Church, Lyle was united in marriage to Elaine Andress. They celebrated 67 years. Mr. Gustin is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater during World War II. After the service, he was employed by Progressive Dairy until they closed and later for Cenex Oil until he retired in 1985. Lyle enjoyed watching his family grow; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed photography, woodworking and was a member of the Racine Camera Club. Lyle was active in the Franksville Business Association and was Chairman of the Franksville Kraut Festival. He also enjoyed gardening and his favorite flower was the rose. One of his greatest joys was to be a member of the Honor Flight on May 2, 2010 to Washington, DC to see the World War II Memorial. Lyle lived in Killarney Court and was loved by friends and neighbors for his unusual character and will be missed by all. Lyle is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, and his two sons James (Jean) of Dallas, Texas, and Robert (Nancy) of Nekoosa, Wisconsin, and daughter-in-law Kathy Murphy of Mount Pleasant. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Fern Beres of Sturtevant. He will be missed by many relatives and close friends. A funeral service will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church (9122 Durand Ave.) in Sturtevant on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church to visit from 10:00 until the 11 a.m. service time. Lyle will be interred at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church Missions, 9122 Durand Ave., Sturtevant, WI 53177.
