RACINE - Mattie R. Freeman-Cato passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 10, 2014 at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care All Saints, Racine, WI. She was born 78 years ago on August 23,1935 to her parents the late Henry and Climbsy (Hayes) Boykin, in Okalona, MS With her four bothers and two sisters. Mattie worked as an elementary school teacher for over 35 years with Racine Unified School District. She was a faithful member of Christ Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Racine, WI. Mattie is survived by her four step children, a sister, Bob-Brette Moore of Racine, WI; a brother, Henry Boykin of Kenosha, WI; a sister-in-law, Lillian Boykin, eight step sisters; one step-brother all of Racine, WI; as well as many loving nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including a special friend, Betty Goodwin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, three brothers, one sister, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, one niece and one nephew. Family and friends are invited to meet at Christ Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 815 Park Ave., Racine, WI on Sunday April 20, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. The Celebration of Her Life will also take place at Christ Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Monday April 21, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Mark D. Gates, Officiating. There will also be a visitation in the church on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow the church service at Graceland Cemetery, Racine, WI. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Mullane, Dr. Goodwrich, a host of nurses and staff at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care All Saints and Alliance Hospice Care.
