Nancy Slovachek Nancy A. Slovachek passed at her Northern Wisconsin home on July 29, 2013. Nan enjoyed a wonderful life filled with family, friends, traveling and canine companionship. She was born Nancy Stauss on May 22, 1927, to Alfred and Maime Stauss. After graduating from Horlick, she attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. While there, she met her future husband Robert Slovachek, both would be life-long Badger fans. They raised three children, Bill (Kathy Watts), Mary and Joan Slovachek. Nancy taught in Racine for many years primarily at Goodland School. In retirement, she volunteered at the Racine Zoo, Racine Historical Museum, Wustum Museum and her church, Holy Communion. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She's survived by her daughters, Mary and Joan; daughter-in-law, Kathy and her grandson, Tommy. She's also survived by her first cousin, Mary Linton, who was like a sister. Visitation will be Thursday evening, August 15, from 5:30 -7:00 PM at Holy Communion Church, with a service at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Pike Lake Fire Department (Park Falls, Wisconsin) or the Wisconsin Humane Society.
