BUTTERNUT - Robert D. Fohr, age 86, died on Sunday February 16, 2014 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls. He was born on September 21, 1927 in Sturtevant, the son of Elmer and Esther (Monty) Fohr. His early life and schooling were in Sturtevant. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a medic in the Korean War. On December 5, 1952 he married Agnes Schroeder in Racine. Robert worked for Racine Casting Steel Casting as a Maintenance Electrician and was the Union President of the UAW Local 553. He also owned and operated Modern TV & Sales in Sturtevant with his brother Lloyd Johnson. After his retirement, the couple moved to Butternut in 1989. They helped run Donner's Bay resort on the Flowage with son Darrell and daughter-in-law until 2008. Bob was also employed with Xcel Energy running the dam on the Flowage. He was president of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage Association for 14 years and also operated a groomer for the Mercer Sno-Goers Club. The last nine months he lived with his daughter Shelley and son-in-law Scott before his short stay at Park Manor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by: (5)children: Darrell (Julie) Fohr of Butternut, Shelley (Scott) Beebe of Butternut, Dale (Sue) Fohr of Caledonia, Rick Fohr of Park Falls, Leland Fohr of Racine, (7)grandchildren, (8)great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Agnes in 2010, his infant twins Laurie and Larry, his brother Russell, his sister Marcella, his half brothers Lloyd and Milton Johnson, and half sisters: Evelyn and Rosemary Johnson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:00am from Peace Lutheran Church in Park Falls. Rev. Dale Heinlein will officiate. Military honors will follow under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion and VFW Posts. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday from 9:00am until the hour of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Peace Lutheran Church Handicapped Entrance Fund would be appreciated. The Novitzke Funeral Home is assisting the family
