Thomas Hugh Carbarnes RACINE – Thomas Hugh Carbarnes, 88, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Milwaukee at Zablocki VA Medical Center. Thomas was born in Orlando, Florida on April 4, 1926 to John Miller Carbarnes and Myrl Rae (Thumma) Carbarnes. Tom grew up in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Penn State University in 1951. He worked for J.I. Case Company in Syracuse, Racine, Platteville, Des Moines and Sioux City. He worked for J.I. Case Company for a total of 31 years. He also worked for Coldwell Banker Realty for 10 years in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Tom was a very devoted Christian. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Racine, WI and the Community Church of Bella Vista, AR. He served as a Stephen Minister for many years. His great love was fishing and he was a very active member of the Bella Vista Fly-tyers Club. He loved to arrange trips to take the young school children for a day of fishing. He had a fishing show on the local TV station for four years, “Fishing with Tom”. He taught his daughters and some of his sons-in-law to fish. Most importantly, he was devoted to his family. Tom loved and cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary (nee: Bohen) Carbarnes, his daughters; Kathy (Dan) Dunn of Bella Vista, AR; Jeremy (Julie) Dunn, of Portland, OR; Amanda Dunn of Fayetteville, AR, Mary Lou and Niki Patrick of Racine, WI.; Justin and Sarah Patrick, Grey and Owen of Racine, WI.; Brad and Danielle Patrick, Kai and Emma, of Racine, WI.; Debra Carbarnes and Mark Samel of Medfield, MA; Zoe Samel of Washington D.C.; Jack Samel, of New York, NY.; Ellen Carbarnes and John Oler of Des Moines, IA.; Zac and Becky, Johnny of Des Moines, IA.; Jenny and Jake Rohe, of Basalt, CO.; Amy and Craig Abel, of Ames, IA.; Sam, Alex, Phoebe; niece, Joni and David Nicol, of Tuscon, AZ. He is further survived by grandnieces; Ashleigh Nicol and Abby Nicol, of Dallas, TX.; nephew, Scott and Debbie Jennette of Bee Branch, AR.; grandnieces; Whitney Jennette of Dallas, TX and Haley and Justin Davis, also by one brother-in-law, Robert Stroud of Conway, AR. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Myrl (Bretz) and John Carbarnes. A celebration of Tom’s life will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Evangelical United Methodist Church at 11:30 am, with a visitation from 11:00 am until the service time. Pastor John Fleming will be officiating. Tom’s final resting place will be at Bella Vista Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
