KANSASVILLE - Walter H. Goetz, 81, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Born in Chicago, IL on April 28, 1932, he was the son of Thomas and Anna (nee Spevak) Goetz. He spent his early life on the south side of Chicago where he attended St. Anthony DePadua Grade School. At the age of 14 his parents moved to Kansasville where they opened Goetz’s Tavern, where he attended Union Grove High School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He belonged to the Gifford-Larsen VFW Post 7924 in Kansasville. On August 30, 1958, in Racine, he was united in marriage to Joanne Zachar. Following marriage they made their home in Kansasville. Joanne preceded him in death on October 20, 2013. Wally was a truck driver for Comat Trucking and working in maintenance for the Town of Dover. He was a member of the Kansasville Fire Department for over 55 years. He belonged to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dover. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Mary (Tom) Vlasin; son, Raymond Goetz; grandchildren, Jennifer Lambert, Hannah Beachem, Caleb Beachem, Lukas Goetz, Kyle Goetz, Gabrielle Goetz, Chris Goetz, and Olivia Vlasin. He is further survived by brothers, Tom (Lu) Goetz and Bernard (Mae) Goetz; sister-in-law, Joyce Perry, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joanne; son, Ted; nephews, Larry Wilear and Andrew Goetz and a niece, Lisa Butera. Memorials to the Kansasville Fire Department, VFW Post 7924, St. Mary’s – Dover or Allay Home and Hospice are suggested. Mass of Christian Burial for Walter will be Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church – Dover with Rev. Richard Molter officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, January 10th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dover.
