RACINE - Dr. William A. “Bill” Anchor, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 8, 2018. William was born in Baraboo, WI on July 3, 1942, son of the late Stacy and Agnes (née: Anderson) Anchor. Bill graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1960. He went on to attend Concordia Teacher’s College in River Forest, IL, attained his Master’s degree at University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned his Ph.D. degree in Psychology at Marquette University. On June 10, 1978, Bill married his soulmate and best friend, Janice Romanshek at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Racine. They shared 28 beautiful years together, before Janice passed away on September 18, 2006. After graduating from Concordia, Bill took an assignment to teach at the International School in Hong Kong. He looked back on the three years he spent there fondly, often telling stories of the friends he made, the trips he took, and his house near Stanley Market. Bill was employed with Racine Unified as a school psychologist for over 30 years, until his retirement in 2007. He found great satisfaction in his work, particularly with the students he was able to help and in the wonderful friendships he formed with his co-workers. In his free time, Bill thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and his two pups, Béla and Zoe, traveling, and putzing in his garden. Bill’s love for his five siblings and twelve nieces and nephews was unending. The ultimate joy of his life was his daughter Britté. He will be remembered for many things and in many ways - his sense of humor, his creativity, his beautiful tenor voice, and surprise Kringle deliveries - but Bill will be best remembered for the deep kindness, love, and generosity he showed to all. Bill will be dearly missed by Britté Anchor of Los Angeles, CA; brothers and sisters, Jack Anchor of Wisconsin Dells, Bonnie Hudzinski, Carolyn (Clyde) Moon, both of Baraboo; sisters-in-law, Carol Anchor of Wisconsin Dells, Katie (Tom) Travers, of Austin, TX; brothers-in-law, James (Gretchen) Romanshek of Racine, Robert (Jean) Romanshek of Eau Claire; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, brother Aaron, brother Jim, and brother-in-law Arlan Hudzinski. A memorial service will be held at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St, on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 4:00 pm. Relatives and friends may meet with the family beforehand from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. A private interment will be held this Spring in Door County.
