KENDALLVILLE — Dale Schinbeckler, age 97, of Kendallville, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.

Mr. Schinbeckler was born in Coessee, Indiana, on January 10, 1917, to George Ervin Schinbeckler and Imogene (Schrader) Schinbeckler. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1934 and Purdue University in 1939 with a Bachelor of Education and Chemistry degree. He obtained his Master of Education degree from Iowa State University 1941.
He married Helen K. Edmonds on April 15, 1941, in Brimfield, Indiana. She preceded him in death August 25, 2003.
Dale was an agriculture teacher for 43 years. He first started teaching vocational agriculture in 1939 at Kendallville High School. Then, in 1964, he moved to the Howe Military School and taught chemistry until he retired in May 1982.
He was a longtime member of the Wayne Center United Methodist Church in Kendallville and he enjoyed making stained glass, painting, duck carvings, and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, David and Cheryl Schinbeckler of Kendallville and Forrest and Sherry Schinbeckler of Plymouth; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be today from 3-7 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Private graveside services and burial will be Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Ken Walker.
Preferred memorials may be made to Noble County Humane Shelter.
