VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Rodney Blair 'Rod' McMillan, 71 of Virginia Beach died Tuesday, July 29, 2014.

He had lived in Virginia Beach since 1994, moving there from Peru, Ill.
Mr. McMillan worked for American Hoechst (later Huntsman) in Peru and Chesapeake, Va., and retired from Nova Chemicals in 2002.
He graduated from Garrett High School, Garrett, Ind., in 1960 and Purdue University in 1965, with a degree in chemical engineering.
He was born in Garrett, Ind., on October 31, 1942, to Irwin B. and Winifred (Snook) McMillan. He married Pamela (Koontz) Gedraitis in Peru, Ill., on June 14, 1985. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Natalie (Kevin) Voke of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Terri (Mike) James of Springfield, Ill.; a stepson, Jason (Jenny) Gedraitis of Peoria, Ill.; mother Winifred McMillan of Goshen, Ind.; a brother, David (Sharon) McMillan of Goshen; a sister, Jodi Alwood of Montgomery, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services were held Aug. 2 at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments in Virginia Beach.
