HUTCHINSON - Torres Barnes, Alice, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. She was born on February 4th in Elmdale, KS, the daughter of Geronimo O. and Jesus B. Barbosa Flores. A graduate of Elmdale High School, she moved to Hutchinson when she was 18 years old. Alice was an avid jogger, member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Ladies Altar Society, Women of The Moose Lodge #1372, Prodigal Prayer Group of St. Teresa Catholic Church, and former member of the Salt City Shakers and State Fair Promenaders. She was an independent home and office cleaner. On September 1, 1951, she married Frank B. Torres in Lyons, KS. He died October 1, 1990. On March 21, 1995, she married Virgil E. Barnes at Hutchinson. He died June 9, 2002. She is survived by her children, Frank B. Torres Jr. of Hutchinson, and Janice I. Barnes and husband, Kerry Roger Barnes of Wichita; 3 nephews, 2 nieces; dear friend, Rusty Moorman; and her beloved cat, "Tabby." She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Froilan and Juan Flores; and sisters, Angelina Flores, Erma Tucker, and Esther Flores. Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., all at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson with Father Ned J. Blick presiding. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
