PITTSBURG McClure, Marlene L. (Kerschen), 75, died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg of a sudden illness. She was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Garden Plain, Kan. and was the daughter of Albert and Gertrude Strunk Kerschen. She had been a resident of Pittsburg since 1976. She was a registered nurse and received her master's degree from Indiana University. Ms. McClure taught in the nursing department at Pittsburg State University for over 20 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, PSU Retired faculty and the Red Hat Society. Survivors include one son, Michael McClure (Michelle) of Pittsburg; one daughter, Lisa Farris of Parsons; three brothers, Albert Kerschen (Marilyn) of Wichita, Leon Kerschen (Dorothy) of Garden Plain, Kan., Jerome Kerschen II of Wichita; two sisters, Marcella Bogner of Haven, Kan., Cathy Murphy (Bob) of Garden Plain, Kan.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerome Kerschen I, Jim Kerschen, and Mel Kerschen. Liturgical services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home Pittsburg, with Father Thomas Stroot, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to services. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday; with Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday, both at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Garden Plain. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Garden Plain. Arrangements in Garden Plain are under the direction of the Wulf-Ast Mortuary, Garden Plain.
