Betts, Rudolph "Rudy," 79, former Wichita resident, died Oct. 5, 2013, in hospice care in Ft. Myers, Fla. Mr. Betts is survived by his wife, Lois; sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Rita of Newton, Kan., Craig and Cindy of Goddard, Kan., Clay of Tulsa, Okla., Jim of Wichita; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mark Harrison of Wichita; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Dwight Paulson of Minneapolis, Minn.; brother, Richard of Ortonville, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Rudy and Adeline Betts, Calvin, Patrick, and Madeline Schulte, Alexander and Lauren Betts. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Pathway Church, 2001 N. Maize Rd, Wichita. Mr. Betts was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Graceville, Minn. to Rudy and Pearl (Wold) Betts. He graduated from Ortonville High School in 1951. He served as an artillery survey specialist in the US Army during the Korean War as part of Battery B, 528th Field Artillery Battalion and achieved the rank of corporal. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge, he entered college and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from the University of North Dakota at Minot. Mr. Betts was transferred to Wichita in 1963 as an employee of Lystad's Pest Control. In 1971, he left the company and founded Betts Pest Control, which he and his wife Lois operated for 31 years. He enjoyed hunting and in his later years fishing. He was especially fond of deep sea fishing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the , 608 W.
