Elliott, Vernon Allan, age 73, of Shell Knob, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Cassville Health Care and Rehab in Cassville, Mo. Mr. Elliott, son of Vernon and Kathryn (Alexander) Elliott, was born on March 14, 1940, in Wichita, Kan. After high school Mr. Elliott enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country proudly. Mr. Elliott was united in marriage to Patricia Loveland in 1962; she preceded him in death in 2000. After several summer vacations to the Ozarks, Mr. Elliott decided to move and make his home in Shell Knob. There he owned and operated Elliott's Chimney Sweep, The Kozy, and A & J Storage for many years, until he retired. In July of 2013 he was united in marriage to Etta Sorensen, who survives. Mr. Elliott was a member of the Central Crossing Masonic Lodge #674 A.F. & A.M., serving as the Worshipful Master twice. He was a member the York Rite bodies. Mr. Elliott was also very active in the Shell Knob Shrine Club. Mr. Elliott was also a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and the Shell Knob Eagles Lodge #4155. Mr. Elliott enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycles, golfing, and traveling. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Etta Elliott, of Shell Knob; one son, Steve Elliott, of Shell Knob; one daughter, Charlotte Elliott, of Purdy, Mo.; two stepsons, Skip Nesbitt and his wife Felicity, of Cassville, and Glenn Nesbitt, of Oswego, Kan.; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Buddy Elliott; two daughters, Pam Miller and Kristine Huber; one brother, Jerry Elliott; and his stepfather, Ralph Buchanan. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Mo., with Wayne Leer, minister, officiating. The Central Crossing Lodge # 674 A.F. and A.M. will conduct Masonic services. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Wichita, Kan.
