AUGUSTA - Bevan, William F. "Billy," 67, passed away peacefully at home Aug. 17, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 10, 1946, in Milwaukee, WI. As an Air Force brat he moved frequently. In 1964 his family was moved, along with many other families, from George AFB to McConnell AFB. That group contained other teenage boys that remained his friends for the next 50 years. During that 50 years Billy became friends with many others, including Brian and Heather Perry, whose compassion and dedication during his last years made the transition easier for Billy and those who loved him. Billy was a 1965 graduate from East High School and attended WSU. He worked in construction for many years. Billy served in the Navy during Viet Nam, but his legacy is defined by the many people that called or flew in to hear his laugh and see the twinkle in his eye one last time. Those of us who loved him will hear his laugh when a black lab barks at a squirrel in a tree and will see that twinkle in the sunlit ripples a bobber makes on a summer day. Preceded in death by mother, Vivian Bevan. Survivors: father, Richard A. Bevan; brothers, Richard A. III and Thomas F. Bevan; sister, Betty Bevan; and his dog, Ramona. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
