BRUCE LAWRENCE STIMPSON Obituary
Bruce Lawrence Stimpson, 51, of Pleasant Hill, Mo., passed away unexpectedly from a stroke December 4, 2013, at Research Medical Center. His celebration of life will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the VFW, 329 SE Douglas St., Lee's Summit, MO 64063. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in honor of his late friend, Jon Watkins and sign up to be an organ donor. Bruce was born Nov. 19, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and grew up in Coffeyville, Kan. He was an alumnus of the University of Kansas. He was the devout husband to Christy, father of Keri and Amanda and "Smackie" to his grandchildren. He was very passionate about his many interests, including BBQ competitions, photography, Harley, boating, spending time with friends, and enjoyed KU Jayhawks basketball and KC Chiefs games. He was known as being a great host by welcoming friends and family from all over to his home. He was VP/CIO of LynxSpring in Lee's Summit and photographer for Cycle Connections magazine. He was a member of the Kansas City Barbeque Society, MENSA, and NRA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Royce Sr. and Claire Stimpson, and brother, Royce Jr. "Chip" Stimpson. He is survived by his wife, Christy, two daughters, Keri Wooderson (Blake) of Tacoma, Wash., and Amanda Maurer (Johnny) of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers; Ken Stimpson and Mark Stimpson of Wichita, Kan., and David Stimpson (Kim) of Rose Hill, Kan.; and sister-in-law, Tracy Stimpson of San Jose, Calif. He also leaves behind his three grandchildren, Autumn and Tucker Wooderson and Brent Maurer, which were his pride and joy, and many, many friends.
