CHARLES BENJAMIN "BEN" HOLMES SR. Charles Benjamin "Ben" Holmes Sr., 84, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013, in St. Petersburg, Fla. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Mo., officiated by Pastor Henry Green. Ben was born in Coffeyville, Kan., and graduated from Stillwell, Kan., High School in 1947. He proudly served a total of 24 years in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force and retired in 1971 as a Chief Master Sergeant. In 1988 he retired from General Motors in Kansas City, Mo. Ben's favorite hobby was designing, building, and flying model airplanes. He is a registered and proud member of the Cherokee Nation, Tahlequah, Okla. He enjoyed spending time with his children and loved ones. He was a great man and will truly be missed. Ben is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Supha Holmes; seven children and four step children, Rebecca A. Cooper, April J. Caspariello, Jeffery S. Holmes, Michael C. Holmes, Melissa S. Holmes, Melinda S. Huser, Melody A. Yates, Pinya Julian, Lake Chookaseme, Pimpar Miller, and Jamjit Wooden; his sister, Flora Virginia Wilkinson-Johnson; 37 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laveta M. Buch, father, Charles D. Holmes, mother, Flora V. Holmes, son, Charles B. Holmes Jr., son, Mark E. Holmes, stepson, Santi Chookaseme, sister, Phyllis E. Todd Johnson, sister, Vivian C. Kneibler, and brother-in- law, Robert Dean Todd.
