Donald G. Clesson, 67, Smithville, Mo., passed on to Heaven on Monday, December 23, 2013, at his home. Don was born March 12, 1946, in Sandwich, Ill., the son of Gloyd (preceded in death) and Shirley Clesson. He married Susan Gray on July 26, 1973. Don and Susan have five children, Mandy (Clesson) George and husband Gary of Valley Center, Kan., Don E. Clesson of Ft. Worth, Texas, Mitch Clesson of Valley Center, MacKenzie Clesson of Kansas City, Mo., and Grant Clesson of Smithville. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Gabrielle George; a step-granddaughter, Abigail George; and sister, Ronica Shrishuhn and her husband Gordon of Harristown, Ill. Don grew up in Decatur, Ill., area and moved with Susan to Kansas in 1975. Don was a born again Believer and a Christian since 1987. He was a servant of God in many ways through the years. Don served in the United States Army from 1968-1969. He was proud to serve his country as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division - "Screaming Eagles" in the Vietnam War. Don's career was in sales, primarily in the restaurant equipment industry. Don had many passions through his life - most important to him were his kids, bicycling, travel adventures with Susie and making us all laugh. Don bravely fought brain cancer for 21 months. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the "Head for the Cure" Foundation to fight Brain Cancer located online at http://www.headforthecure.org/foundation/memorials/donald-clesson. Don participated in the HFTC walks for two years, and we'll continue in our warrior Don Clesson's honor until a cure is discovered. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Chapel with visitation one hour prior.
