DOUGLAS VINCENT HORBELT M.D. Obituary
DOUGLAS VINCENT HORBELT, M.D. Douglas Vincent Horbelt, M.D., 67, beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician and educator, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 24, 2014, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Church of the Magdalen Catholic Church, Wichita, Kansas. In his free time, Dr. Horbelt enjoyed scouting, sailing, photography, gardening, hunting, computer technology, and world travel. Dr. Horbelt served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas at Galveston School of Medicine. He also held the following positions throughout his medical career: Distinguished Chair, Daniel K. Roberts Society; Clinical Fellow, Dept. of Ob-Gyn, University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita; Assistant and Associate Professor, Dept. of Ob-Gyn, University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita; Director, Ob-Gyn Residency Program, and Director, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Dept. of Ob- Gyn, University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita; Clinical Associate, Dept. of Gynecology, University of Texas Cancer Center, M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, Houston, TX; Vice Chairman, and Professor, Dept. of Ob-Gyn, University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita; Vice President, President Elect, and President of Medical Staff, Wesley Medical Center; Acting Chairman, Dept. of Ob-Gyn, University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita; American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Oral Board Examiner and Oral Board Subspecialty Examiner of Gynecologic Oncology; Chairman, Daniel K. Roberts Distinguished Professor, and Clinical Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Ob-Gyn, University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita.
