HARRIETT FREDMAN LEVY Obituary
Harriett Fredman Levy, 91, passed away on May 17, 2014. Harriett was born on December 4, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral Services will be at Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue 64131, followed by burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145 or the . Harriett was the daughter of Fannie Eichenberg Fredman and Benjamin Fredman and was married to Bennett D. Levy for 61 years until his death in 2005. Harriett attended Border Star School, Southwest High School and the University of Illinois, where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority. Harriett served as a member of the Board of Councilors of Menorah Medical Center; President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Jewish Geriatric Center, Board Member of the J.C. Nichols PTA and President of the Briarwood School PTA, Board Member of the Council of Jewish Women and a member of the Panel of American Women. She spent countless hours serving as Co-Chair of the Menorah Hospital Coffee Shop on Rockhill Road and as a volunteer at the Hospice Resale Shop at 95th and Mission Road. She was a member of The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Shirley. Harriett is survived by her sister, Jeanne Schwartz of Deerfield, Illinois; her children Robert and Nita Levy of Overland Park, Kansas, Frances and Robert Sachs of Long Grove, Illinois; and John and Janet Levy of Westfield, New Jersey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Karen and Brian Cole, David and Nicole Levy, Cortney and Scott Delevitt, Amy and Christopher Etten, and Brian Levy and Andrew Levy and their fiances; her great grandchildren, Samuel Cole, Hannah Cole, Mackenzie Delevitt and Brody Delevitt; many cousins; and her friends. In her quiet, unassuming way, Mom was the center of our lives and the lives of her relatives and friends. She loved us all without reservation and asked nothing more than that we love each other. Her memory is a blessing. The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff and care givers at Villa St. Joseph, Kansas City Hospice, ComForcare and The Atriums.
