1943 - 2013 | Obituary Condolences
John R. Grecco, 70, of Blue Springs passed away December 17, 2013, after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday December 20, 2013 at Royer-Hays Funeral Home, Blue Springs, MO. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors at 1:00 p.m. at National Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. John was born on January 25, 1943 to Sam and Betty Grecco in Fort Brag Georgia. He spent most of his younger years in Johnstown, New York where he attended and graduated from Johnstown High School. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Mather Air Force Base in Rancho Cordova, California. In 1968 he met his wife of 45 years, June Erwin and was married on April 6, 1968. He moved his young family to Guam while he finished his service. They then returned to New York where John worked for Beech Nut Baby Foods. In 1976 the family moved to Blue Springs, Missouri, where he worked for Owens Corning until he retired in 2007. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and First Church of Blue Springs. He is survived by his wife, June Grecco, his sister and her husband, Joan and William Kyle, and his five children: his daughter Rebecca and her husband Jim Bales, his son Brad and his wife Teresa Grecco, his daughter Renee and her husband Brad Weddle, his daughter Cindy and her husband Travis, and his daughter Sonya Patterson and her partner Kevin Webber. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Kansas City Hospice.
