JOSE R. GUERRA Obituary
Jose R. Guerra, 94, went to his eternal rest March 14, 2014, in McAllen, Texas. Born Aug. 9, 1919, in Los Saenz, Texas, to Pablo and Encarnacion Guerra. Jose was a WWII veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received during a battle in Saipan in June of 1944. Jose was a devoted Catholic who did his best in serving others. He belonged to many organizations including Shriners, Masons, VFW in Kansas City, Kan., and the Elks. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; three sisters; and daughter, Mary Ann Ferguson. Jose is survived by his sons, Raymond and spouse of Virginia, Joe Jr. and spouse of Missouri; daughter, Teresa Guerra-York and spouse of Missouri; four grandchildren; and many wonderful nephews and nieces. A visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. with a rosary starting at 6 p.m. and a Christian memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Kreidler Funeral Home. Military service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas. Jose's humor and warm smile will be greatly missed.
