1926 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Lawrence "Larry" Grubb, 87, Kansas City, Kan., passed away Monday, January 13, 2014. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan., with a Masonic Service at 6 p.m. Graveside Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to University United Methodist Church or Ankara Grotto. Lawrence was born May 25, 1926, in Belleville, Kan. He played football and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1944. Lawrence was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Air Force. He was a Locomotive Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1999. He attended University United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post #163, Wyandotte #3 AF & AM, Ankara Grotto, Union Pacific United Old Timers #4. He was also an officer for the Mid America Credit Union. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 33 years, Charlene Mary Grubb, two step-children, Philip Gicalone, and Jill (Larry) Hershberger, five step grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, all of the Kansas City area, and numerous cousins from Ellsworth, Kan., and Pueblo, Colo.
