LOY CODAY Obituary
Loy Coday, age 90, Overland Park, KS, passed away July 16, 2013 at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday July 19, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS, with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be held at the Church prior to the funeral, starting at 9:30 AM. Loy was born on January 29, 1923 to Jim and Kate Coday in Locust Grove, OK. Loy served in the Army in WWII and was proud to be part of Gen. Patton's 3rd Army that swept through France and Germany after D-Day. He was united in marriage to Lucille Nichols of Peggs, OK, on October 10, 1946 in Compton, CA. Loy moved the family to Overland Park, KS, in 1959 where he worked as a roofer until going to work at the Kansas City Star in the circulation department in 1963, retiring in 1985. Loy was preceded in death by Lucille after 64 years together; a son Danny; his parents; brothers, Paul and John; sisters: Lillian Cummings, Clestie Johnson, Genevie Walters, and Zelda Lowers. He is survived by sons, Rodney and wife Judy of Shawnee, and Keith of Overland Park; sisters, Wilma Armes and Delores Lay of Locust Grove, OK; grandchildren: Debbie, Laurie, and Chris; and 11 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Loy's Hospice caregivers Marty, Tammy, Greta and Tracy for their exceptional support.
