1941 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
September 27, 1941 May 31, 2014 Mary Gard, 72, Kansas City, passed away May 31, 2014 at Liberty Hospital. Memorial Service will be Thursday, June 5, at 1:00 PM at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 Vivion Road, Kansas City, with a visitation preceding the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Mary was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, the daughter of John and Madeline Keller. She was a graduate of the University of Missouri Journalism School. Her career included work as a reporter for the Associated Press in Chicago and positions in marketing, public and media relations, and communication with the Kansas City Public School District, Bethany Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, and KU Medical Center. After retirement she worked in the Kansas City Missouri Municipal Court as an advocate for abused children. She was an MU Extension Master Gardner, a free-lance writer, a teacher, a loving wife and mother, and a doting grandmother. She is survived by her husband Lowell Gard; her son and daughter- in-law, Robert and Kelly Ball and her two grandchildren, Joseph and Madeline Ball of Lee's Summit; her son Craig Ball of Melbourne, Australia; her sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Mike Kokot of Highland Indiana; nieces and nephews, and step-children and grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
