Ellis W. Al Johnson
1922 - 2013
Ellis W. Al Johnson, 91, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Kenosha on Jan. 25, 1922, he was the son of the late George and Leslie (Ellis) Johnson. He was educated in schools of Kenosha and Milwaukee.
On Aug. 17, 1946, he married Helen Bernadine Nolan and they were blessed with 66 wonderful years.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945; he was a recipient of the Bronze Star, two Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and three Overseas Service Bars.
Ellis was an electrician by trade and worked in Oshkosh, Wis., and Kenosha.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and a good round of golf, along with watching the Packers and Brewers.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen; his two sons, Randal Johnson of Kenosha and Daniel (Sue) Johnson of Arizona; his daughter, Judith (Kenneth) Specht of Kenosha; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Ellis was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Parmentier.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 2020-91st Street. Entombment with full military honors will follow in Sunset Ridge Mausoleum. A visitation for Ellis will be held on Saturday, at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
