Jane died on Sept. 3, 2013, at Fairhaven Senior Services, in Whitewater, Wis. She was 89 years old, and the last surviving sibling of her family.
She was born Dec. 21, 1923, on the Davies family farm in Wild Rose, Wis., to Daniel and Sara Davies, the sixth of seven children. The family thrived with the attention of grandparents and the many aunts and uncles who lived nearby. Her memory of the warmth and community of those days remained with her always. She was the county home economics extension agent in Manitowoc County for two years helping homemakers apply best practices to raising their families.
She married Floyd Holloway, of Union Grove, Wis., on Oct. 4, 1947, at the Wild Rose Presbyterian Church in Wild Rose, Wis. Together they built a home on the Holloway Heritage Farms, Union Grove, Wis., where they raised four children, celebrating 65 years of marriage last fall. She was an instructor in the interior design program at Gateway Technical Institute for 25 years, an expert in textiles and furniture, retiring in 1988.
Jane was active in the Kenosha County Homemakers Association, serving as president of the Hawthorne Corners chapter. She volunteered as a 4-H leader teaching sewing and home furnishings. For many years, she was a judge for 4-H projects at the Racine County Fair, evaluating sewing and baking entries. Jane was a member of the Somers United Church of Christ, active in teaching Sunday school, childcare and baking pies for the annual chicken BBQ.
She is survived by her husband Floyd, two daughters, Sharron Topping (Charles Allen) and Elizabeth (Mark) Schar, two sons, John (Leslie) and Richard (Barbara) and nine grandchildren.
