Lawrence E. Larry Keisler
1923 - 2012
Lawrence E. Larry Keisler, 89, of Salem, Wis., passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, Wis.
He was born April 30, 1923, on the family farm in Long Grove, Ill., the son of the late Herman and Rose (Miller) Keisler, later living in the Antioch area, before settling in Salem in 1955. Larry was a volunteer fireman for the Salem Fire Department in his younger years, and enjoyed woodworking, and putzing around the house. Before his retirement in 1986 he worked for 30 years as a die cast supervisor at Johnson Motors, part time as an electrician for Salem Electric, and was a hand on the family dairy farm. On April 2, 1949 he married Lois Byers at the Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Lois; five children, Nancy Keisler of Antioch, Stanley (Cheryal) Keisler of Eau Claire, Wis., Donna (David) Sanders of Kenosha, Wis., Kenneth Keisler of Trevor, Wis., Gerald (Traci) Keisler of Wheatland, Wis.; six grandchildren, Erik, Chanell, Shana, Leah, Jake, and Hanna; two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Madelyn; three siblings, Herman (Betty) Keisler of Elkhorn, Wis., Alta Smith and Gladys Aronson both of Genoa City; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by and infant son Richard, and three siblings, Leo, Elmer Keisler, and Lorraine Volling.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL 60002. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery, Salem, WI. Visitation will be held
