Milton M. Vieth
1926 - 2013
Milton M. Vieth, 87, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the Hospice House.
Born on August 20, 1926 in Norwalk, Wis., he was the son of the late Melvin and Selma (Hoffman) Vieth.
Milton honorably served our country in the U.S. Army from April of 1945 until October of 1946. Following his discharge from the military, Milton joined the Civil Engineers and helped rebuild Guam after WWII.
He received his education in Norwalk, received his BS from the University at La Crosse State Teachers College and received his Masters Degree from UW-Superior.
On Dec. 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Eileen M. Flaig in Norwalk, Wis. They were blessed with five children and 64 years of marriage.
Milton educated our youth for 31 years through the Kenosha Unified School District; teaching at McKinley Junior High School, retiring in 1988. Prior to teaching in Kenosha, he also taught at Viroqua High School.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he and his wife were instrumental in establishing the food pantry, along with other parishioners in 1985. Over the years, Milton was a member with several clubs, but he was first and foremost, a devoted and active father, grandfather and great grandfather, supporting his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at their numerous activities.
Milton will be deeply missed by his wife, Eileen; four children, Kathryn Gould of Kenosha, Carl (Ann) Vieth of Maple Bluff, Wis., Thomas (Debra) Vieth of Kenosha and Barbara (Tomm) Girman of Genessee Depot, Wis.; two brothers, Marvin (Elly) of Lake Bluff, Ill., and Merlin (Maxine) Vieth of Norwalk, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Ila Olson of Westby, Wis.; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Milton was also preceded in death by a son, John in 1952 and a grandson, Jonathan Gould.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 919 60th Street. Entombment with full military honors will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 15, from
5 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to First United Methodist Church or Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 would be appreciated by the family.
