Richard T. Stummer
1935 - 2013
Richard T. Stummer, 77, a lifelong resident of Kenosha passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Brookside Care Center.
Born on Nov. 9, 1935, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Ferrier) Stummer.
He attended local schools and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.
Richard served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Korea, working in the PX where he was known as everyones friend.
On Oct. 15, 1966, he married Barbara E. Struss at St. George Catholic Church.
Richard served his community as a firefighter from March 1, 1964 until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid car lover and auto mechanic, especially spending time on his beloved black and gold 1966 Rogue.
Throughout the years, Richard enjoyed playing cards, fishing, family time, Saturday lunches with his friends, and dinner with the neighbors.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Barbara; his four children, Jenny (Scott) Kammer of Silver Lake, Julie (Brad) Kollmann, Richard (Jody) Stummer, and Ron Stummer all of Kenosha; his brother, James (Jean) Stummer, and his sister, Patricia Stummer both of Kenosha. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ellie, Kori, Audra, Kathryn, Amanda, Jesse and Ashley.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Robert and his sister, Joan Smith.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial remembrances to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association, 945 N. 12th Street, Ste. 4602, Milwaukee, WI 53233, would be appreciated.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ramanuja Manda, Dr. Bharathi Pulla, Dr. Syed Haider, Brookside Care Center and Hospice Advantage, for the special care that was given to Richard.
