Robert L. Kegler, Sr.

1930 - 2013

Robert L. Kegler, Sr., 82, of Kenosha passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Aurora Medical Center.

Born on April 5, 1930, in New Lisbon, Wis., he was the son of the late Roosevelt L. and Lucy (Eller) Kegler.

Robert honorably served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1948 until 1961, aboard the U.S.S. Midway during the

Korean War.

For over 30 years, he was employed with Fracar Sheet Metal, retiring in

December of 1998. Following his

retirement, he was employed for a short time with his son as a carpenter.

Bob was a train enthusiast and also enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, traveling and gardening. During the holiday season his home was featured in the newspaper, several years running, showcasing his Christmas decorations. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Bob will be deeply missed by his companion of over 20 years, Beverly Kruschinsky; eight children, Diane (Eric) Bixler, Robert (Sharon) Kegler, Jr. both of Kenosha, Steve (Marcela) Tietjen of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Yvonne (Jim) Iepperailo of New York, Robert (Sue) Schubert of Chicago, Ill., Charlene (John) Erickson of Kenosha, Douglas Murphy and Michael Murphy both of Wisconsin; a sister, Beverly Keil of Munster, Ind.; four grandchildren, Eric Jon Bixler, Abigail Rose (Maxwell) Young, Caitlin Belle (Jeremy) Bolle, Emmett Loren Kegler and 15 additional grandchildren. He is further survived by a great granddaughter, Lucy Mae Bolle and 12 additional great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two step-children, Billy Schubert and Michelle Howe.

Funeral services with full military honors following will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Private entombment will be held in Green Ridge Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
