Robert E. Saksvig
1936 - 2013
Robert E. Saksvig, 77, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 9.
Born on Jan. 21, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of the late James and Astrid (Frogner) Saksvig. He earned his Bachelors Degree at St. Olaf College and his Masters at Northwestern University.
On June 18, 1960, he married Ruth Emily Fjortoft in Oak Park, Ill. She preceded him in death on April 30, 1991.
He worked as an educator in the Kenosha Unified School System for 34 years. Starting in 1959 as a Social Studies teacher at Lincoln Junior High; then he taught at Lance. He later became Principal at Bullen Junior High in 1971, retiring in 1993 as a Director of Student Services.
Robert was a member of St. Marys Lutheran Church and a former member of Western Kiwanis Club of Kenosha. He enjoyed playing cribbage, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his three children, Paul (Linda) Saksvig of Glen Allen, Va., Brit I. (Reuben) Saksvig-Hart of Crownsville, Md., and Peter (Kristina) Saksvig of Lindstrom, Minn.; six grandchildren, Emilie, Jonathan, Haakon, Leyna, Signy and Aksel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 13 at St. Marys Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 12 (Noon) until the time of service.
