Stephen J. Canale

1946 - 2014

Stephen J. Canale, 68, of Twin Lakes, Wis., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.

He was born March 3, 1946, in Waukegan, Ill., the son of the late Thomas and Sophia Sylvia (Swenton) Canale, settling in Twin Lakes in 1989.

Stephen proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. Before his retirement in 2005, Stephen worked as a maintenance mechanic for many years at Kenosha Beef, beginning his career in the family business Canale House of Pizza, Waukegan, Ill. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed: shooting, model airplanes, car shows, old movies, and had a great sense of humor. Stephen was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, LaSalette Shrine, Twin Lakes, Wis.

Survivors include three children, Sylvia (David) Canale-Soper of Bassett, Wis., Thomas (Donna) Canale of Twin Lakes, Wis., and Stephen C. Canale (fiance;e Melissa) of Portage, Wis.; several grandchildren; a sister, Merien (Ernie) Rebicek of Twin Lakes, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by a brother Joseph.

Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL 60002, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, Wis.
